WhatCounts shows the Blog Unit appliance at DEMO 2005

blogunit
WhatCounts introduce a "blogging appliance" for business. A rack-mounted appliance, BlogUnit provides blogs, podcasts, and other content publishing capabilities in a plug-and-play box. The WhatCounts team "borrowed" content from Scoble, Chris Pirillo, and Steve Rubel and "threw together" a blog in a matter of minutes. BlogUnit addresses the security, authentication, workflow management, and approval processes required for business blogging. In the demo, the WhatCounts team built a blog for a mythical airline company and demonstrated how the approval process and permission systems allows content to be reviewed prior to publishing. Great DEMO line: "I bet Google wished they had BlogUnit in place a few weeks ago when Mark Jen started blogging." Cool DEMO trick: using a rules-based approach, the WhatCounts BlogUnit selectively grabbed some of Scoble's content appropriate to the topic they were interested in. As Jason just mentioned to me, you do lose some of the "blog-iness" with this filtering but it's a big concern for businesses getting into the blogging space.
